I have made this before and am going to make it again tonight. This is an easy and delicious recipe. I serve it over egg noodles with peas and French bread. It’s good with a green salad as well.

This dish is a quick dish, you must use fillet steak which cooks fast. I liked his recipe though and will try it.

Traditional stroganoff has cubes of beef but no onions, mushrooms or tomato. I make mine completely different, I use everything I’m not meant to and cook it for 10hrs in the slow cooker, then serve it on rice! If any Russians read this, I’m sorry

He does this entirely differently to how it’s served in the UK, and I’d imagine most other places, where it’s a creamy white wine dish. It’d be interesting to do this scoop-of-cream-separately technique, but surely there’s no reason why that couldn’t be done with any old reddish stew, or even casserole.

I disagree with using tomato puree for this dish; paprika ftw!
November 26th, 2009 at 6:48 pm
we use only cream in Cyprus ,we got the same dish but i think it’s not so good with tomato
November 26th, 2009 at 6:48 pm
